Maurice Lopes is an expert in building successful businesses. He is founder of Early Shares. Conceived out of Mr. Lopes frustration in the lack of resources afforded the small business owner, EarlyShares.com is dedicated to bridging the funding gap for small business entrepreneurs through the application of crowdfunding. Under Mr. Lopes’ leadership, the organization came to the attention of Start Up America Partnership, which made Early Shares the featured company on their website on April 5, 2012, the same day President Obama signed the JOBS Act into law. Mr. Lopes’ enviable successes in the development of small businesses assure the stringent venting of small business applicants as well as solid investor protections. In the mid-90’s Mr. Lopes developed and formed Global Interconnect Communications Corp in Miami supplying international calling cards to major telecommunications carriers. In 1998/1999, he was recruited by the Ministry of Communications to consult on the liberalization of the telecommunications monopoly existent in Peru. Due in no small part to his efforts, deregulation was implemented by 2000. Moving back to the States, he started another telecommunications company, Telecom Logix, a company offering data-com solutions for businesses across South Florida, servicing over 4,000 clients. In 2003, he co-founded HotBrick Network Solutions, an Internet security appliance manufacturer providing superior firewall routers bridging the gap between usability and network security specifically for the small businesses across the world. The company secured over 1,000 dealers worldwide in less than three years, with manufacturing in China and operations in Canada, Europe, Brazil and the U.S. Under Mr. Lopes’ guidance, HotBrick became a global company employing more than 100 people. Today Mr. Lopes is considered an expert on capital formation and crowdfunding legislation, Mr. Lopes has dedicated the last year to educating America on the JOBS Act. And how it will change all businesses in America. Mr. Lopes is a frequent guest at universities such as: Georgetown University, MIT, Columbia University, Ai School of Entrepreneurship, Nova, and Harvard Business School. Mr. Lopes is on the governing board of the Crowdfunding Professional Association (CfPA).
